Receivables Turnover Ratio: Why Cash Collection Matters

A high receivables turnover ratio generally indicates that customers are paying more quickly, helping the business maintain stronger cash flow.

A low ratio may indicate:

  • Delayed customer collections;

  • Weak credit control; or

  • A potential risk of bad debts.

However, the ratio should not be analysed in isolation. It should be compared with the company’s performance in prior years and with relevant industry benchmarks.

Sales may look impressive, but sales do not automatically mean that cash has been collected.

The ability to collect cash ultimately determines whether the business can pay its bills.

较高的应收账款周转率(Receivables Turnover Ratio),通常代表客户付款较快,有助于企业维持较稳健的现金流。

较低的周转率,则可能反映:

  • 客户付款延迟;

  • 信贷管理薄弱;或

不过,分析应收账款周转率时,不应只看单一数字。企业也应将其与往年的表现及相关行业水平进行比较。

销售额看起来再漂亮,也不代表现金已经真正收回。

企业最终能否收回现金,才决定它有没有能力支付账单。
