To identify the functional currency, consider:

• Which currency mainly determines the selling prices of goods and services?

• Which currency drives the entity’s major costs?

• Which currency is used to pay employees and suppliers?

• Which currency is used for financing activities?

• Which currency are cash receipts retained in?

• Which economy mainly influences the entity’s business activities?

The answers should be assessed together with the relevant economic facts and circumstances. No single factor will necessarily determine the functional currency in every situation.
